Beibu Gulf Square is home to the iconic ‘Nanzhu Soul’ sculpture, located on the north side of the square. Designed by the renowned Chinese sculptor Professor Ye Yushan, the sculpture complex covers an area of 600 square meters and consists of three parts: a water pool, a group of sculptures, and a monumental structure. The water pool is circular with a diameter of 13.8 meters and can hold 150 square meters of water, symbolizing the vast ocean. In the center of the pool stands a 12-meter-tall pearl shell-shaped monument. Within the three-dimensional shell, there is a stainless steel ball with a diameter of 1 meter, representing the shining pearl nurtured within the shell. Surrounding the main monument, there are three unique groups of sculptures: a pearl girl riding a sea fish, a young fisherman riding a sea turtle, and an old fisherman riding a seahorse. Each sculpture stands at 5 meters tall and is cast in alloy copper. In 1993, lighting and fountain facilities were added to the pool. As night falls, the interplay of the monument, sculptures, lights, and fountains creates a magnificent and splendid scene. The opening hours and business status are subject to the daily opening conditions.
