The Shankou Mangrove is located in Hepu County, Beihai City. It is connected to the sea and grows in patches. It is very representative among China’s mangrove resources.
Here, there is sufficient sunlight. Mangrove plants such as Rhizophora stylosa, Bruguiera gymnorrhiza, and Aegiceras corniculatum grow in the forest. In the seawater among the forest, there are also various marine animals such as fiddler crabs and mullets. This is also a veritable paradise for birds, inhabited by birds such as shrikes and white cranes.
When visiting the scenic area, you can stroll along the plank road. The higher one is a fixed corridor bridge. Standing on it and looking at the vast green sea, with the sky and sea connected in the distance, it is extremely magnificent. The lower one is a pontoon plank road. Stepping on it and shuttling through the mangrove forest is like passing through an endless green passageway. From time to time, you can also see the lovely fish and shellfish living in the wetland.
When the tide is high and the water level is sufficient, you can also take a cruise ship to shuttle through this ‘sea forest’ and observe their intertwined, tenacious and full of vitality scenery.
The opening hours are subject to on-site announcements. Must-see tips: It is better to go when the tide is high. You can take a boat tour and the effect is very good.
