In the West Street of Wuzhen, there stands Tongji Bridge and Renji Bridge, one running north-south and the other east-west, forming a right angle next to each other. No matter which bridge you stand by, you can see the other bridge through the bridge hole, like watching the moon in a well, hence earning the beautiful name ‘Bridge Within a Bridge’. Both bridges are arch-shaped structures, tall and majestic.

If you stand on the south riverbank, the semi-circular arches of the two bridges are reflected on the water, appearing round yet not round, virtual and real, making it a major scenic spot in Wuzhen. At night, under the outline of the lights, it becomes even more exquisitely beautiful. The ‘Bridge Within a Bridge’ is an ancient bridge scenery that represents the beauty of Wuzhen. Compared with other twin bridges elsewhere, it is unrivaled in terms of momentum and shape.

Wuzhen’s ‘Bridge Within a Bridge’ is a blend of cultural beauty and pastoral beauty, combining the wild unrestraint and the exquisite construction. Wild trees and branches slant across the bridge seams, and standing at the bridgehead, you can see the water pavilion scenery at a glance. The Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal winds northward, the Wenchang Pavilion stands out with its elegance, and the White Lotus Pagoda stands tall and majestic, making it a unique bridge scenery.
