The A Thousand Islands Lake ‘Moonlight Love’ Light Art Night Tour is located on Moonlight Island in the central lake area of A Thousand Islands Lake, consisting of four small islands: ‘Heart Garden,’ ‘Bond Garden,’ ‘Emotion Garden,’ and ‘Dream Garden.’ It is a scenic area with a strong romantic atmosphere and cultural heritage, presenting a night tour feast of ‘appreciating the moon, chasing the moon, pursuing dreams, and fulfilling dreams.’ ‘Moonlight Love’ includes two main sections: ‘Themed Light Show’ and ‘International Light Art Biennale Exhibition.’ The 2024 Second A Thousand Islands Lake International Light Art Biennale Exhibition, themed ‘The Gesture of Light,’ not only considers artistic forms but also focuses on the current consumer needs, especially those of young people, integrating a strong tourism attribute. It is more technological, emotional, and interactive than the first biennale, with an emphasis on visitor reputation.
From 215 works submitted by 8 countries, 11 pieces were selected to be presented on Moonlight Island. Works such as ‘Outside Girl’ by Teacher Cui Jian and ‘Lake Light Cosmos’ are highly technological. Works like ‘Retrospect,’ ‘Mirrored Fate,’ ‘Riding the Wind and Waves,’ ‘Dialogue between Thousand Islands and Lake,’ ‘Free and Easy Wandering,’ and ‘Mountains, Waters, and Bird Songs’ all possess a certain emotional and interactive quality.
Work: ‘Retrospect’: Artist Ji Siyu’s piece, located in the Sand Bay of the Lock Exhibition Hall, resembles a disc and is colorful with a sense of history and sentiment. Visitors can control the flow of light through interactive devices on the shore, with four layers inside and out, controlled by four buttons, each corresponding to an old song, not staying in the past, not fearing the present, and not being confused about the future.
‘Light Year Transmission’: A piece by Israeli/Chinese artists Ziv Zev Cohen and Li Yi, located on both sides of the upper passage of Unrestrained Coffee. The work draws inspiration from ancient poems depicting Chun’an County over thousands of years, using the manipulation of light and photosensitive materials, modern technology decodes the poetry, presenting a new interpretation of ancient poems.
‘Lake Light Cosmos’: Artist Hu Yiji’s piece, located on the Fish Joy Bridge, draws inspiration from ‘Guan Zi · Universe’: ‘Heaven and Earth are the bellows of all things, and the universe is the bellows of heaven and earth.’ The overall shape is constructed with a special universal axis, allowing the central light-emitting body to rotate at any angle while maintaining balance and stability. Visitors can experience the illusion of light and shadow in the lake light black hole space through the interaction of a gyroscope.
‘Outside Girl’: A work by the father of Chinese rock and artist Cui Jian, located on the Lucky Bridge, with a strong sense of technology, flying saucer shape, feeling the unknown, experiencing adventures.
‘Time Hook’: Artist Liu Gefan’s piece, located on the Lucky Bridge, the time hook that breaks through the clouds, hooks up human trifles, evokes memories, visitors can take photos and commemorate, with the implication of ‘willing to bite the hook.’
‘Dialogue between Thousand Islands and Lake’: Artist Li Jingkang’s piece, located on the Lucky Bridge, a voice message sent to the lake surface, and the lake surface gives a reply, it is A Thousand Islands Lake answering the questions and doubts of the world.
‘Dancing Leaves’: A work by Bulgarian artist Mihaela Kamenova, located on Lucky Bridge. Full of vitality and poetry. The work features three distinct leaves, each representing a different landing stage. It can change color through interaction.
‘Carefree Wandering’: A work by artists Liu Jiajing and Liu Zihuai, located on Lucky Bridge. Polarized light sheets floating on the water surface. Through the viewing window set on the shore or the reflection on the water surface, the audience can see the information carried by the polarized light sheets.
‘Flowers in the Mirror’: A work by artist Chen Huisong, located in the middle of Lucky Bridge. The red flower element fits the themes of love and number one scholar. The layered petals form a complete flower with the reflection in the water. The laser light in the center of the flower stands upright like a stamen. The moon mirror console on the platform adjusts the purple light irradiation in the flower by moving the light with fingers, causing the lake flowers sprayed with luminous paint to change color.
‘Landscape and Birdsong’: A work by artists Wu Dingyu, Xing Qi, Li Zunhao, Zhao Liang, and Wang Ruizhu, located on Lucky Bridge. Skillfully combines the two elements of light and shadow and nature. Sound spectrum is generated by blowing a bird flute to trigger changes in light and shadow, as if echoing the real bird calls.
‘Riding the Waves’: A work by artist Li Na, located at the end of Lucky Bridge. Two unicycles are set on Lucky Bridge. Just ride on them to activate the water spraying device set in the lake, as if riding the waves on the lake surface.
The whole area is open all year round from 17:00 to 20:00.
