Lianhuazhuang Park is a very famous garden in history. ‘Lotus in full bloom, a hundred hectares of brocade clouds’, it is a unique sight in Wuxing. Zhao Mengfu, a calligrapher in the Yuan Dynasty, built a residence here, opened up a lotus pond, and constructed Songyue Studio, Shuiyue Pavilion, etc., hence the name Lianhuazhuang. Lianhuazhuang was originally the place where Zhao Mengfu studied when he was young. It was still well-preserved in the Ming Dynasty but was destroyed in the late Qing Dynasty. In 1986, relevant departments in Huzhou City rebuilt it and incorporated the adjacent Qianyuan Garden to make it a continuous area. The total area is 112 mu, one-third of which is water surface, divided into three scenic areas. The west area facing Hengtang Road is the main gate. The lintel is inscribed by calligrapher Zhao Puchu. On the left side after entering the gate is the stele of ‘Wuxing Fu’ written by Zhao Mengfu. In front of the stele is Qingbian Residence, and behind it is Jifang Garden. On the right side is Qingsheng Pool. Next to the pool are Songzhai and Ou Bo Pavilion. The studio and the pavilion are connected by a corridor. The Lianhuafeng on the west side of the studio is an old object from Zhao Mengfu’s time. The seal script ‘Lianhuafeng’ is engraved on it, which is exactly his handwriting. The Tishanlou, Songxue Studio and Ou Bo Pavilion on the peak are commemorative buildings in Zhao Mengfu’s life. Many of his masterpieces were completed here. Opening hours: Open from 08:00 to 18:00 all year round. The specific opening hours are subject to the actual situation of the scenic spot on the day.
