Tianjing Lake Park is located in the northwest of Tongling urban area, more than 1 kilometer west from the Yangtze River. The park surrounds a large lake area. Two winding causeways divide the lake into East Lake, South Lake, and North Lake, arranged in a ‘pin’ shape. The missing West Lake is jokingly said by locals to be in Hangzhou. There is a spring in the lake that is about 2 meters higher than the lake surface all year round. It is named Tianjing, and Tianjing Lake is thus named. For a small city, having a park with a natural lake is a very happy thing. Locals often come here for walks and physical exercises. The amusement facilities in the park also make this a paradise for children. In the center of South Lake in the southwest corner is Zhongzhou Island. On the island, there is Tongtian Pavilion. The spring ‘Tianjing’ is in the pavilion. To see the spring, you need to take a paid cruise ship on the shore and row to Zhongzhou Island to disembark. On the east bank of the lake is the Copper Culture Park, which is a large square. You can see the municipal government building adjacent to the east. Tourists with children may wish to play amusement facilities such as bumper cars, rotating swings, and carousels in the children’s playground. There is also a zoo in the park. Although it is not large in scale, it is enough to make children forget to return home. Every April, Tianjing Lake Park holds a peony flower exhibition. The colorful peonies are very suitable for taking pictures.
