The Linhai Large Volcano is a volcanic crater. It erupted in the Cretaceous period 80 million years ago. It is a representative of large-scale volcanic activities along the southeast coast of China and a volcanic eruption in the latter stage of the Mesozoic Era. The Linhai Large Volcano is also called coral rock. Because there are regular pentagonal and hexagonal stone pillars here. Scientists call it columnar jointing. The entire scenic area has more than 15 million pillars. Each pillar penetrates 200 to 300 meters deep into the surface, but only a dozen centimeters are exposed on the ground. This is due to the slow cooling rate of magma.
