The Yunyang Yangtze River Bridge is a bridge constructed in Chongqing before the impoundment of the Three Gorges Project. The bridge starts from the new Yunyang county seat on the north bank and ends at Panshi Town on the south bank. It connects with the provincial road from Sichuan to Hubei (Kaijiang-Lichuan Road). The bridge structure is a high and low tower cable-stayed bridge. The whole bridge is 1278.6 meters long, the main bridge is 637 meters long, and the approach bridge is 641.6 meters long. It is a high and low tower cable-stayed bridge in the Three Gorges Reservoir area. Yunyang County is divided into two parts, north and south, by the Yangtze River. For a long time, residents on both sides of the north and south of the county had to take ferries when crossing the river. Ferries carrying buses, trucks, building materials, daily necessities and agricultural supplies shuttle back and forth between the two sides of the Yangtze River, severely restricting the economic and cultural development of Yunyang. The construction of the Yunyang Yangtze River Bridge has opened up the bottleneck of integrating Kai (county) and Li (chuan) roads with National Highway 108. It is one of the key projects of the ‘land passage’ in the circular economy circle in the northeast and south of Chongqing and has ended the history of ferrying people and vehicles across the river by boat for thousands of years. Open all year round and open all day.
