The Songjiang Museum is a comprehensive local museum. It mainly collects, preserves, researches, exhibits, and promotes the historical culture and cultural relics of Songjiang area. The collections include pottery, porcelain, jade, gold and silver, copper, woodenware, etc., with more than 5,000 pieces in total. There are also more than 2,000 sets of ancient books, among which there are some precious rare editions and block-printed editions. The basic exhibition of the Songjiang Museum, ‘Treasures Buried in Quicksand’, focuses on displaying the historical relics unearthed in Songjiang area so far, including the precious cultural relics of the Song, Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties unearthed from the underground palace of Xilin Pagoda and Fangta Pagoda.
