Yanyu Tower is the main building on the island in the center of Nanhu Lake in Jiaxing. It has now become a general term for the entire garden on the island. From south to north, there are three front gate halls. Behind there are two floors of the building, with five bays in width and two bays in depth, surrounded by corridors. In the middle of the second floor hangs the plaque with Emperor Qianlong’s calligraphy ‘Yanyu Tower’. To the east of the building is Qingyang Study, and to the west is Duishan Studio, both with three bays. To the northeast is an octagonal pavilion, and to the southeast is a square pavilion with four corners. In the southwest, stones are piled up to form a mountain. There are winding caves at the foot of the mountain. You can spiral up along the stone steps. At the top of the mountain is a hexagonal open pavilion named Yiting Pavilion. This tower is the highest point for overlooking Chenghu Lake. Standing by the railing and looking into the distance, Wanshu Garden, Rehe Spring, Yongyou Temple and other places are clearly visible. Whenever in summer and autumn, when mist and rain are pervasive, it is just like a landscape painting.
