Jiangyin Confucian Temple is a relatively large ancient architectural complex in Jiangyin City. The Confucian Temple, also known as the Confucius Temple, was first built in the third year of Jingyou in the Northern Song Dynasty (1036). It is a temple for worshipping Confucius in past dynasties and was also the location of the yamen of Confucianism instructors in the old days. The overall layout of Jiangyin Confucian Temple adopts a palatial style with central axis symmetry and is built in imitation of the style of the Confucius Temple in Qufu, Shandong. For thousands of years, this magnificent ancient architectural complex has always been set off among the green trees and appears extremely quiet. It has become an important cultural and tourist attraction in Jiangyin urban area that integrates culture, tourism and commerce.
