Hongmei Park is a vast park located within the city of Changzhou, featuring extensive lake areas and superb greenery. The park is renowned for its garden landscapes that can be seen everywhere, making it a popular spot for locals to take a walk and for parents to bring their children to play on weekends.
The Wenbi Pagoda within the park is one of the oldest structures in Changzhou, and the red plum blossoms that bloom at the turn of winter and spring are also well-known. Hongmei Park is conveniently situated approximately 1 kilometer away from Changzhou Railway Station and Changzhou Bus Station, to the north of Tianning Temple. Originally the site of Tianning Temple’s garden, it has since expanded into the park it is today.

The park has multiple entrances; to explore historical structures, one can enter from the southern entrance, while those looking to enjoy recreational facilities can enter from the northern entrance. The Red Plum Pavilion and the Wenbi Pagoda are significant ancient constructions within the park. Walking straight north from the South 2 entrance leads to the Red Plum Pavilion, which was first built during the Tang Dynasty’s Zhaosong years and reconstructed during the Qing Dynasty’s Guangxu years. The two-story pavilion houses some stone carvings. In front of the pavilion stands a 2.5-meter-tall Bingmei Stone, featuring patterns resembling plum blossoms.

At the South 1 entrance, one can find the Wenbi Pagoda, which is built along the edge of the park. Dating back to the Southern Dynasties, the seven-story pagoda has a copper gourd on top, from which one can overlook the cityscape of Changzhou. Adjacent to the amusement park, the Swan Lake offers sightings of swans, while the Flamingo Island is home to flamingos. In summary, the northern part of the park is essentially a paradise for children. Within Hongmei Park, one can also see the Tianning Temple’s Tianning Pagoda, and by walking along the park’s waterways, one is sure to find a satisfying spot to capture the reflection of the Tianning Pagoda. The park is open all day, every day of the year.
