**Introduction:**
This year’s rain has been relentless, with hardly any sunny days. The plum rain season in Jiangnan always coincides with the children’s summer vacation. Especially this year, with the early arrival of the heatwave before the end of the rainy season, it has been quite a challenge for parents with young children. Every day, I’ve been researching where to take the kids during the holidays, and decided to start with a day at the flagship store of Shanghai Bao Yan Amusement Park. This might be the first in Shanghai to offer a super combination of a pet paradise, slide park, naughty castle park, dynamic VR park, building block park, parent-child restaurant, arcade park, constant temperature water park, and outdoor experience park, covering an area of over 20,000 square meters.
**Location and Branches:**
The park’s address: The flagship store is located at No. 11, Lane 3825, Dushi Road, Minhang District, Shanghai. There are many branches as well. You can bring your friends to play together, and it can be a great place for children’s gatherings during holidays.
**Ticket and Business Hours Information:**
Currently, during the summer months (July and August), the park’s operating hours are from 9:30 am to 8:30 pm. The water park and pet paradise open from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm. The gate price for the flagship store of Bao Yan Amusement Park is 399 yuan for one adult and one child. There is a parking lot with the first 4 hours free, and 6 yuan per hour for each hour after that.
**Admission Details:**
1. Individuals 18 years old and above are considered ‘adults’, and those under 18 are considered ‘children’.
2. With valid identification and accompanied by an adult, ‘second babies’ under one year old can enter the park for free.
3. For safety reasons, pregnant women and individuals over 60 years old are not recommended to enter the park.
4. An adult accompanying ticket is 100 yuan each.
**Precautions:**
1. Upon entering, you will be given a wristband that allows multiple entries and exits to the park.
2. Whether adults or children, it is essential to wear anti-slip socks, long sleeves, and long pants when playing on slides to prevent abrasions.
3. Not only for slides, but also in other areas such as the naughty castle, shoes must be removed and socks worn for hygiene.
4. The water park is constant temperature throughout the seasons, so as long as you are physically fit, you can play anytime. Don’t forget to bring swimsuits, goggles, and caps. The park provides slippers in various sizes, and there are parent-child changing rooms where families can change together.

**Personal Experience:**
I personally think the Pet Paradise should be visited first. It is located outside the main park on the first floor and has a separate ticket. Upon entering, wash your hands, put on gloves to keep clean and safe, and you can touch and feed small animals. The star animal is, of course, the alpaca. Don’t worry, the alpacas here are very well-behaved and won’t spit, so feel free to feed them. Small rabbits and squirrels are the favorites of children. A row of rabbits sticking their heads out waiting for my girl to pet them, actually, their main purpose is to wait for food, and they are quite clean and odorless. There are reptiles like lizards, fish, and the overall environment is quite like a tropical rainforest. It covers a considerable area, and if you play separately and the child is particularly fond of small animals, it will take more than 2 hours to leave.
A dedicated bird park has been established, complete with bird feed. Additionally, you can find meerkats, groundhogs, and hedgehogs here, making it a rather comprehensive pet haven. Hamsters, being quite small, can be held and fed while wearing gloves. Even ferrets are present! The slide park and dynamic VR park are both located on the first floor. Since slides are Baoyan’s signature attraction, they are certainly distinctive. There are numerous areas for storing belongings, so you can enjoy your visit without worries. Please note that shoes must be removed upon entry. It is mandatory to wear long-sleeved shirts and pants for safety reasons, as the fast speeds can lead to scrapes. The 90-degree devil slide is an opportunity to test one’s courage. The angle of this slide makes my legs tremble just by looking at it, yet there are brave children who dare to go up and even play it three times, truly valiant! To ride this slide, one must wear a specially designed costume, which is very cute and soft. On the first floor, immerse yourself in 5D, 7D, and 9D VR cinema experiences, with a variety of films showing in the morning and afternoon. Check the timings and consider watching them multiple times; it’s almost like you’ve earned back the ticket price, considering the cost of a VR game outside.
**Second Floor Delights:**
After your VR adventure, take the elevator to the second floor where storage lockers allow for multiple entries, so you can leave your belongings on the first floor. Here, you’ll find the naughty castle park, block park, family restaurant, and arcade.
**Dining and Relaxation:**
Enjoy a pre-play lunch at the family restaurant, which offers Western-style fast food and a variety of drinks at reasonable prices. The portions are generous, and the salt and pepper chicken is a must-try. Alternatively, you can dine at the seafood factory on the first floor.
**Amenities for All:**
There’s a baby room for resting, a baking classroom, a birthday room for celebrations, and a nail salon where mothers can get a manicure while their children play in the naughty castle.
**Naughty Castle and More:**
The naughty castle is filled with thick layers of ocean balls and offers slides, rock climbing, hammocks, swings, and excellent safety measures, making it a perfect place for older children to play independently. The block park is also a popular spot for engaging both hands and minds in building and creating.
**Arcade and Water Fun:**
In the fun arcade, bumper cars are a must-try. The year-round constant temperature water park occupies the 3rd and 4th floors, ideal for any time of the year. Don’t forget to pick up swimsuits if you’ve forgotten yours, and enjoy the convenience of changing rooms designed for men, women, and parent-child use.
