From Xi Shi to the Four Great Beauties, and from them to the famous women throughout Chinese history, the establishment of the Ancient Chinese Beauty Museum in Xi Shi’s hometown aims to fully display the authenticity, kindness, and beauty of women.
The Ancient Chinese Beauty Museum is a courtyard-style antique building with Jiangnan characteristics, located in the entrance area of the Xi Shi’s hometown tourist area, and it is a rare exhibition hall in China that focuses on famous women throughout Chinese history. The museum, with the purpose of showcasing the true, kind, and beautiful aspects of women, has selected more than 100 ancient Chinese female figures, divided into seven sections according to their characteristics: the Four Great Beauties, legendary goddesses, historical figures, talented ladies, heroic women, four folk tales, and the Hundred Beauties Gallery, with the Four Great Beauties being the core of the entire exhibition. In addition, the museum also features static landscapes such as the ‘Washing Silk Record’ brick carving screen wall and the Twelve Flower Deities courtyard art pieces, as well as dynamic display projects like chime music and dance. Opening hours are from 08:00 to 17:00 all year round; from 18:00 to 20:30 for preferential policies. Preferential policies: Children under 1.2 meters (not including) enter for free; children between 1.2 meters (including) and 1.5 meters (including) enjoy discounts. Elderly people aged 70 (including) and above enter for free with a senior citizen card or ID; those aged 60 (including) to 70 (not including) enjoy discounts with a senior citizen card or ID.
