The existing ancient city wall and moat ruins in Chuzhou were originally constructed in the sixth year of the Qingli era during the Northern Song Dynasty, expanded by Ouyang Xiu when he served as the prefect of Chuzhou. After the founding of the People’s Republic of China, some sections of the city wall and gates were demolished or damaged, but the section from the East Gate to the South Gate, as well as the North Wall and the moat, are still well-preserved.
