The ancient stage of QianDeng ancient town is located on the second floor of a building, where there is a rich collection of oil lamps, making it unique. Kunqu Opera, listed by UNESCO as an intangible cultural heritage, is also known as the ‘ancestor of all operas’. QianDeng is the hometown of drama and the birthplace of Kunqu Opera. Kunqu Opera originated from the ‘Kunshan tune’ created by Gu Jian, a native of QianDeng. In memory and inheritance of the cultural legacy of the sages, the ancient street of QianDeng has restored the construction of the ancient stage. The ancient stage is often used as a venue for Kunqu Opera and Pingtan performances, providing visitors with a high-standard audio-visual feast. The opening hours and specific performance times are subject to the public notice of the scenic area.
