Sijing Ancient Town

Sijing Ancient Town boasts a rich history, known as the ‘Roots of Shanghai’. If we trace its origins back to the formation of a village during the Northern Song Dynasty, it has been around for over a thousand years. Initially, it was called Huibo Village, and during the Southern Song Dynasty, it was renamed Qijiancun. It wasn’t until the mid-Yuan Dynasty that the town was officially named Sijing, due to the convergence of four rivers: Waibo Jing, Tongbo Jing, Dongjing, and Zhangjing. Although Sijing Ancient Town has seen significant development in recent years, its fame remains relatively low compared to other ancient towns like Zhujiajiao and Qibao. The town is open all year round and accessible 24 hours a day.
