Guteng Garden is located on the ancient coastal sand ridge before the formation of Shanghai. The original site was a rural town known for the ancient wisteria planted by the poet Dong Yiyang during the Jiajing period of the Ming Dynasty, commonly referred to as the ‘Wisteria Pavilion’. The current location is at No. 148 Lincan Road, Minhang, on the east bank of the Shagang River, covering an area of 4,948 square meters. The garden features the ancient wisteria as the main plant scenery, complemented by a variety of famous flowers and trees, creating a pleasant scenery that is like spring all year round.

The garden’s terrain is well-arranged, with rockeries, ponds, and around the pond, there are pavilions, bridges, corridors, water pavilions, and other ancient-style buildings that outline a beautiful Jiangnan garden scene. In the northwest corner, there are semi-pavilions, landscape walls, and trellises, each forming a unique view. The Yiyang ancient wisteria has a shape like a coiled dragon and a shade like a canopy, and every April, the wisteria flowers are in full bloom, filling the garden with fragrance.
