Bacheng Old Street is located in the ancient town area of Bacheng. It was built during the Guangxu period of the Qing Dynasty (1875 – 1908). It is 200 meters long from east to west and is only wide enough for three people to walk side by side. It is paved with granite strips. In 1997, it was approved as a cultural relic protection unit of Kunshan City by the People’s Government of Kunshan City. The old houses on the old street are built along the river, facing the street and leaning against the river.
They are lined up in close order. There is a window along the river, with white walls and black tiles. The stone bank is mottled, and the river ports are arranged in an orderly manner. The water of the city river (Yanglintang) is clear, and boats shuttle back and forth, presenting a style of Jiangnan water town. The sidewalk of the old street (slab street) is relatively narrow. The buildings of residents and shops on both sides protrude towards the street. You can reach out and shake hands with each other by opening the window. The street road paved with stone slabs on the ground has been ground extremely smoothly. The long and narrow old street everywhere tells the traces of a long time ago, but the simplicity and elegance still exist.Opening hours: The specific business status is subject to the opening situation on that day.
