Bagong Mountain is a famous historical and cultural mountain with beautiful scenery. It covers an area of 108 square kilometers. In the scenic area, more than 40 peaks undulate and overlap, with lush pines and magnificent, elegant and spiritual beauty. It has rich historical background and cultural connotations. More than 1,600 years ago, the Battle of Feishui, in which the few defeated the many, took place here, leaving behind the eternal anecdote of ‘panic at the slightest sound and seeing enemies in every bush’.
More than 2,000 years ago, Liu An, the King of Huainan, recruited talents and gave lectures on scriptures and Taoism. He compiled a famous work of a generation, ‘Huainanzi’, which completely recorded the twenty-four solar terms for the first time and invented the eternal delicious food tofu. The ‘Huainan worm’ fossil is the earliest discovered fossil of ancient organisms in the world so far. It is praised by the international geological community as the source of life on the ‘blue planet’. Bagong Mountain is beautiful. Since ancient times, many scholars have rushed here. The footprints of Liu An, Li Bai, Su Shi, Ouyang Xiu, Liu Yuxi, Wu Jun, and Wei Yingwu have all covered Bagong Mountain and left many widely praised chapters. According to the principles of’scientific planning, strict protection, reasonable development, and sustainable utilization’, the Bagong Mountain Scenic Area adheres to the development strategy of ‘establishing the district with tourism, strengthening the district with industry, and revitalizing the district with culture’. It focuses on creating ‘a cultural mountain, a civilized mountain, an ecological mountain, and a life mountain’. It has successively invested a large amount of money to protectively develop scenic spots such as Bagong Mountain Stone Forest, Wangqing Valley, Han Huainan Palace, Shengxian Terrace, and Baitasi, as well as the Geological Museum that showcases the characteristic geological features of Bagong Mountain National Geopark. In the newly-built Huainanzi Cultural Park, there is ‘Heming Valley’ that showcases traditional Han culture and the ‘Twenty-Four Solar Terms Park’ that showcases the world’s intangible heritage. The Idiom Story Park interprets the essence of ‘Huainanzi’ with vivid sculpture groups.Bagong Mountain Scenic Area has convenient transportation and basically complete supporting infrastructure in the tourist area. It has obtained three brands: national geopark, national forest park, and national AAAA-level tourist area. It is a good place for people to go sightseeing, travel, conduct scientific research, study, and have leisure and entertainment.
