Bai Zhang Waterfall is a hidden gem nestled within the towering mountains and steep ridges, accessible only after a boat ride across Moon Lake. The Bai Zhang Gorge stretches approximately 1500 meters, featuring cliffs, peaks, clear streams, and cascading waterfalls. In addition to the main waterfall, the gorge is home to over 20 scenic spots, including Xi Zhu Waterfall, Yuan Yang Waterfall, Wu Die Spring, Yan Wei Waterfall, Yi Xian Waterfall, Xiao Yao Waterfall, Jiu Long Pond, and Ji Gong Pond, earning it the reputation of ‘The First Waterfall Group in Jiangnan’. Numerous historical dramas have been filmed here. The Bai Zhang Waterfall dramatically emerges from a 300-meter-wide reddish cliff at Wang Yuan Shuikou, plunging more than 60 meters down, its sound thunderous and powerful like an army charging. The Ming Dynasty historian Zhang Dai praised it as: ‘The Milky Way falls from the sky, swaying into mist and clouds, ten thousand bushels of pearls and jade, a hundred zhang of hanging white silk.’ There are two routes to appreciate the waterfall: one starting from Wang Yuan going from top to bottom, and the other starting from Shi Huang, going from bottom to top, each with its unique charm. The site is open all year round from 08:00 to 17:00.
