Baicao Garden, once a vegetable garden of the Zhou family, is located behind Lu Xun’s former residence. It is the place where Lu Xun played as a child, and due to the vivid descriptions in ‘From Baicao Garden to Sanwei Study,’ it has become a shared childhood memory for many visitors. Today, Baicao Garden still largely retains its original appearance from that time, with some vegetables planted inside and the towering soapberry trees offering a lush canopy, allowing visitors to faintly sense the shadows of the old days.
On the west side of the large garden, there is a mud wall about one meter high, serving as the boundary with the backyard of the Liang family next door. At the southern end of the mud wall, where it adjoins the corner of Lu Xun’s back door, there is a boundary stone engraved with the words ‘Liang Boundary.’ This boundary stone and the ‘short mud wall’ that Lu Xun referred to as having ‘infinite interest’ still remain as they were.
