It is said to have been built by Dong Fen, a Minister of Rites in the Ming Dynasty, for his female relatives and servants. Originally constructed with approximately a hundred rooms, hence the name. Baijianlou is characterized by its winding layout along the river, connected by stone bridges. The white walls, blue tiles, and flowing river water present a typical scenery unique to the water towns of Jiangnan. Open all year round, accessible 24/7 for exterior visits.
