Bailuzhou Park is located in the southeast corner of Nanjing City. It is a relatively large park in the southern part of Nanjing. In the Yongle period of the Ming Dynasty, it was the villa of Xu Da, the founding marquis Zhongshan. Therefore, it is called Xu Taifu Garden or Xu Zhongshan Garden. During the Tianshun period, Jiufeng Temple was built in the park, and the fireworks were prosperous for a while.
The park became a gathering place for the park owner and many literati such as Wang Shizhen and Wu Cheng’en to have poetry and wine parties. When Emperor Wuzong of the Ming Dynasty made an inspection tour to the south, he was attracted by its reputation and came to this park to enjoy the scenery and fish. Bailuzhou divides the Qinhuai River into two waterways and stands alone in the city. Having been accustomed to the singing and dancing of Qinhuai, the night scenes of painted boats, and tasted all the delicious food of Jinling. Let’s take a short rest in Bailuzhou.
