Baiyun Ancient Temple, also known as Baiyun Temple, was originally built during the Tang Dynasty. In the fourth year of the Qingli era of the Song Dynasty (AD 1044), Fan Zhongyan petitioned for it to be recognized as a ‘merit incense courtyard’ due to his ancestral graves located here. Emperor Renzong of Song granted the mountain to him and bestowed the temple with an imperial title, making it a family temple for the Fan family. After numerous repairs and restorations over the generations, Baiyun Ancient Temple has witnessed the evolution and development of Tianping Mountain for over a thousand years and is one of the important carriers of the historical features preserved in Tianping Mountain. It is open to the public from 8:00 to 17:00 all year round.
