Banyuan Garden, also known as Lu’s Banyuan, is a historical site covering an area of 1130 square meters, located at No. 60 Baita East Road. It was built by Lu Jiemi, a native of Anhui and a Taotai official during the Xianfeng period of the Qing Dynasty, and was named ‘Banyuan’. Commonly referred to as ‘North Banyuan’ due to its location north of the Shi’s Banyuan in Cangmi Lane. In 1982, it was listed as a cultural relic protection unit in Suzhou, and opened to the public in 1992.

The garden is situated to the east of the residence, with a central pond surrounded by a boat hall, waterside pavilion, winding corridors, and a half-kiosk, where many structures are characterized by the concept of ‘half’. The northeast corner of the garden features a two-and-a-half-story double-eave pavilion, which is unique to Suzhou gardens. The garden is planted with white-barked pines, boxwoods, wisteria, and other flowers and trees.

It is open to visitors from January 1st to December 31st, from 10:00 to 22:00.
