Baoben Pagoda, commonly known as ‘Pinghu Pagoda’ or ‘East Lake Pagoda’, was originally constructed in the 42nd year of the Jiajing era of the Ming Dynasty (1563). It is one of the oldest existing structures in Pinghu City. The tower is typically only accessible for exterior viewing and not for climbing. Influenced by the philosophy that ‘Heaven and Earth are the roots of all things’, the pagoda was named Baoben Pagoda. The existing ancient pagoda, built during the 27th year of the Kangxi era of the Qing Dynasty (1688), is a brick-wood structure with eight sides and five levels, standing nearly 50 meters tall. It is now a cultural relic protection unit in Zhejiang Province. The opening hours are from January 1st to December 31st, from 06:00 to 15:30.
