The time-honored Baoben Pagoda Courtyard and East-West Pagoda Bridge are one of the main landscapes of the East Lake scenic area, covering an area of 51 mu. The Baoben Pagoda on Parrot Isle is one of the oldest existing buildings in Pinghu City. The Baoben Pagoda, commonly known as ‘Pinghu Pagoda’ or ‘East Lake Pagoda’, was built in the 42nd year of Jiajing in the Ming Dynasty (1563). It is now a cultural relic protection unit in Zhejiang Province.
Baoben Temple is named after the ‘Baoben Pagoda’ on the isle. As a Buddhist holy place, since Jiajing in the Ming Dynasty, famous monks of all generations have presided over it and the incense has been prosperous. The original temple was destroyed in the war. The Baoben Temple seen today is restored according to its historical original appearance. The temple is generally divided into north and south areas. With the temple and pagoda courtyard as the main body, people can worship Buddha and pray for blessings here.Opening hours: From January 1st to December 31st, open from 06:00 to 15:30.
