The park is located on the ruins of Longjiang Baochuan Shipyard 600 years ago. It is a large-scale ruins park integrating tourism, commemoration, exhibition and leisure invested and developed by Nanjing City for the 600th anniversary of Zheng He’s voyages to the Western Seas. Six hundred years ago, this area was crisscrossed by rivers and branches, with continuous reeds and an open terrain directly leading to the Yangtze River. Later, it was selected and built into Baochuan Shipyard. At that time, Baochuan Shipyard covered an area of more than 1,000 mu and had seven shipbuilding docks. According to historical records, large treasure ships were ‘all built in Baochuan Shipyard’, making it one of the larger shipyards in the world. Since the Ming and Qing Dynasties, it has gradually been abandoned. After several centuries of changes, only three places of ancient shipyard ruins have been preserved, namely docks 4, 5, and 6. Inside the current scenic area, there is a medium-sized treasure ship of Zheng He’s fleet. It is a large wooden ship designed and built on a 1:1 scale, restoring the relics of the style of the fleet back then and can be carefully admired.
