Baoquan Temple Park is a national 2A-level tourist attraction. With its superior geographical location, the Nan Su River runs through the park from east to west, surrounded by a spectacular array of springs. The temple is nestled among grotesque rocks, forming a natural stone forest. In front of the temple, there are extensive fossil groups of ancient organisms, identified by provincial archaeologists as marine fossils from the Ordovician period, hundreds of millions of years old. According to the inscriptions on the stele from the Yuan Dynasty (AD 1318), ‘The Record of the Renovation of Baoquan Temple,’ the ancient temple was established during the prosperous era of Buddhism in the Tang Dynasty, making it a thousand-year-old historical site. Through successive renovations by various dynasties, the temple has become grand and expansive, with a thriving incense culture and widespread fame. In October 1999, the old site of Baoquan Temple was expanded and renovated, and it was renamed Baoquan Temple Tourist Area. Since its reconstruction, over 25 million yuan has been invested to restore the cultural relics and historical sites within the temple and to develop new tourist attractions. The top ten attractions of Baoquan Temple include the famous springs, astonishing rocks, Imperial Villa Hotel, ancient temple bells, secret forest area, serene waterside, gathering of sages, elderly paradise, forest area, and horticultural area. It has now become a comprehensive tourist attraction with multiple functions such as Buddhist cultural sightseeing, leisure, entertainment, and spring landscape viewing. Operating hours are from 08:00 to 16:00 all year round. Parking services are available at the Baoquan Temple parking lot, which is free of charge.
