Beilian Village, formerly known as Tangwei, Xinsha, and Xinlongfang, is said to have been established in the 45th year of the Qing Emperor Qianlong’s reign (1780). It was named Tangwei due to its location below a pond. During the Guangxu period, the name was changed to Xinsha, and it was also known as Xinlongfang. Later, it was renamed Beilian, reflecting its position to the north of Dashi Town and the spirit of the masses uniting to seek a better life.
