Blossom Seashore Ecological Park is located on the west side of Zhujing Town, Jinshan District, Shanghai, adjacent to the picturesque Xiuzhou Pond in the north. The scenic area is composed of a sea of flowers, a plum garden, a cherry blossom garden, and an autumn scenery garden, integrating science popularization, exhibition, and ornamental tourism into a flower appreciation theme park.
The plum garden is made up of three distinctive smaller gardens: Meixi Fragrance Ridge, Meiying Path, and Mei Palace Plum Exploration. There are over 10 spots within the garden for admiring plums from a height, such as Shuying Slope, Ningxiang Terrace, and Yanyu Pavilion. Additionally, the garden features characteristic small bridges, winding garden paths, densely covered lawn areas on the islands, and the meandering Meixi Stream. The garden boasts a variety of plum blossom species, including Gongfen, Zhusha, Lv’e, Jiangmei, and Meirenmei, with more than 3,000 plants of over 60 early, mid, and late varieties, primarily in white, pink, and red colors. The blooming period is from mid-February to mid-to-late March.
The cherry blossom garden consists of Cherry Blossom Meandering, Begonia Valley, and Magnolia Islet. Mountain cherry, early cherry, late cherry, begonia, Meirenmei, and Erqiao magnolia compete for the title of island master. The winding and undulating garden paths connect nine islands, with streams encircling the islands and water rippling with flowers, creating a soft and continuous murmur. From an aerial view, it resembles colorful butterfly wings ready to take flight. The blooming period is from mid-March to mid-to-late April.
The sea of flowers is composed of 19 petal-shaped small islands, Hua Xian Ridge, Hua Man Slope, Hua Zhi Wu, Hua Ying Xi, and Hua Xiu. In spring, the sea of flowers mainly features more than 30 varieties of flowers such as corn poppy, centaury, dwarf snowball, tall snowball, schizanthus, lupine, gypsophila, and starflower, with the blooming period from mid-April to mid-May. In autumn, there are more than 10 varieties of flowers such as cosmos (波斯菊, sulfur cosmos), lamb’s ear, Mexican sage, zinnia, celosia, sunflower, and others, with the blooming period from late September to mid-October.
The autumn scenery garden is made up of Maple Forest Path, Maple Leaf Island, Starry Sky Lawn, Knight’s Park, and Autumn Maple Pavilion. The garden is planted with over 20 species of autumn-colored leaf trees, such as various cultivars of Japanese maple, Norway maple, American red maple, variegated triangle maple, glabrous oak, Chinese soapberry, Chinese tallow tree, yellow hornbeam, weeping privet, Chinese sweetgum, yellow buckeye, persimmon, Chinese elm, and others, along with a large number of osmanthus, including fragrant, golden, and silver osmanthus, and various ornamental grasses. The viewing period is from mid-November to mid-to-late December.
