The Jizi Temple in Danyang, Zhenjiang, Jiangsu is famous not only for its historical sites such as the Cross Stele, the Water-Dissolving Stone, and the Jihe Bridge, but also benefits from the unique and spectacular sight here – Boiling Well Spring. The boiling well is located in Jiuli Village, Yanting Town, Danyang City. It is about 20 kilometers away from Danyang City. Six ancient wells are lined up in a row at the Jizi Temple in Jiuli Village. The well mouths are very close to each other. According to historical records, there were a hundred wells here in ancient times, and some of them were boiling wells. There are currently six ancient boiling wells. The well water is three clear and three turbid, each about a foot apart. Looking from a distance, the well coping is simple and elegant with unique charm. Looking closely, the water surface in the well is boiling and surging with a sound. This peculiar landscape makes tourists very curious. In addition, in the ditches and ponds around the temple, there are many boiling springs gushing continuously. The villagers call it ‘dragon qi’ and call the boiling well pond ‘Dragon Pool’ or ‘Boiling Pool’. The specific business hours and opening status are subject to the opening situation on that day.
