Located within the base of Lingshan Giant Buddha, the Buddhist Culture Expo showcases the Five Directions Five Buddhas of China, as well as the rich cultural content of Tibetan, Theravada, and Han Buddhism, the three major Buddhist systems. It embodies the profound and ancient Buddhist culture, truly capturing the essence of ‘visiting a thousand mountains is not as good as touring one pavilion’. To comprehensively understand the history and culture of Buddhism in a short time, visiting this exhibition is a must.
The entire exhibition hall covers an area of 10,000 square meters, with an elegant style, utilizing detailed text, images, artifacts, and multimedia to fully display the historical origins of Buddhism. The exhibition is divided into three levels, gathering all the essence of Buddhist culture, including the ‘treasure of the museum’ – a carving of the Five Hundred Arhats Hall in Beijing’s Wanshou Mountain made from Han Dynasty golden nanmu wood. The museum’s main exhibition threads include the Five Directions Five Buddhas, the Four Great Buddhist Mountains of China, the three major Buddhist languages of Tibetan, Theravada, and Han, Buddhist cultural arts, and international exchanges, with sections such as the hallway, prologue hall, Five Directions Five Buddhas hall, eight major exhibition halls, and multifunctional hall.
