Cao Ding was a hero against Japanese pirates during the Jiajing period of the Ming Dynasty, born into a family of salt workers, who detested the Japanese pirates’ invasion of our homeland from a young age! He defeated the pirates in multiple battles and unfortunately met his demise in one such battle. The public holds Cao Ding in high regard, especially in the Nantong area, where people have built a temple and tomb in his honor. Incense is continuously offered on the first and fifteenth days of the lunar month. The site is open all year round, with full-day access.
