The Caoyun Exhibition Hall is located within the Fengqiao Scenic Area, specifically in Jiangfengyuan, formerly known as the Fengqiao Historical Traces and Historical Materials Exhibition Hall. It officially opened on August 26, 1990, with a construction area of 1393 square meters.
The Caoyun Exhibition Hall is divided into three sections and four exhibition rooms. The first room, themed ‘The Origin and Formation of Caoyun,’ displays Qing Dynasty documents and correspondence related to Caoyun in Suzhou, exhibited in the central showcase.
The second room, themed ‘Caoyun and the Grand Canal,’ showcases the entire route of the canal using a lantern slide format.
The third room, themed ‘The Transportation Process of Caoyun,’ features the transportation of Caoyun and the workers. In the center is a large model of a Caoyun boat, with models of various ancient canal vessels displayed on both sides.
The fourth room, themed ‘Caoyun and Suzhou,’ explores the relationship between Caoyun and the city. It is open all year round from 08:30 to 16:30.
