The Xujiahui Catholic Church is a renowned Catholic church in China, located in Xuhui District, Shanghai. It serves as the cathedral of the Catholic Shanghai Diocese and is officially named ‘St. Ignatius Cathedral’. Adjacent to the cathedral is the bishop’s residence of the Catholic Shanghai Diocese, as well as a convent. The architectural style is a blend of neoclassical and French Gothic Revival. Construction of this cathedral began in the 30th year of the Guangxu Emperor’s reign, with the main hall completed in September 1910. The entire structure is a five-story brick and wood building in the style of French medieval architecture. The top of the main hall features Gothic bell towers with spires reaching 50 meters in height, making it quite impressive. Opening hours are Tuesday to Saturday from 09:00 to 16:00; the cathedral is closed all day on Mondays and Sundays.
