Cenbu Village by the Dianshan Lake is hailed by insiders as the most spectacular firefly observation site in the city at present, “where two types of fireflies are discovered in Shanghai.” In other areas, only the slow-flying yellow-veined fireflies can be seen, as if carrying small lanterns; here, the stripe-backed fireflies are three times larger, fly rapidly, and are much brighter, resembling meteors streaking across the sky.
