Shanghai Century Square is located on the South Century Avenue, and it is one of the larger open-air squares in Shanghai. It is also a sculpture landscape square themed around time.
It blends classical and modern landscaping techniques, embodying the essence of both Eastern and Western cultures. It ingeniously and harmoniously connects the famous Century Avenue and Century Park, stretching through Pudong in a continuous flow. Overlooking the entire square, it is symmetrically distributed, backed by the lush greenery of Century Park, facing the translucent Science City to the east, and adjacent to the majestic new district administrative center to the west, resembling a pearl embedded at the end of Century Avenue. It is profound yet grand, smooth yet beautiful, exuding vitality and a sense of the times. The entrance to the square is designed based on the sundial, featuring the large-scale landscape sculpture ‘Light of the East’. It utilizes 24 tons of channel steel, constructing a platform of over 400 square meters, with over 6000 meters of stainless steel pipes used. Facing Century Avenue, it highlights the theme of time across the centuries, a combination of sculptural artistic language and modern high-tech architectural language, which is truly admirable. Open from 1/1 to 12/31, the square is open all day long.Must Read
