For historical reasons, Chang Sheng Temple no longer exists. However, the three-story pagoda-style Maitreya Pavilion built in the late Qing Dynasty (named Chang Sheng Temple Tower on the cultural relic protection plaque) is still there, attracting people to pay their respects.
In June 1982, Chang Sheng Temple Tower was listed as a cultural relic protection unit in Yangzhou City. The origin of this Chang Sheng Temple Tower is also quite meaningful. At that time, Xiao Weisheng, the widow of a large salt merchant in Yangzhou, entered the Buddhist hall with devotion and got to know Ke Duan. Due to her dedication to learning Buddhism and building merit, Xiao Weisheng funded the construction of the three-story Maitreya Pavilion of Chang Sheng Temple and often listened to Ke Duan’s guidance on the essential points of Buddhist scriptures. At that time, the Maitreya Pavilion built by the Xiao family is now the tower of Changle Temple. Open all year round and all day.
