The Yangtze River Guanyin Scenic Area is located along the Yangtze River. It is divided into two parts as a whole. With Chengbei Water Plant as the boundary, it is divided into east and west areas. The two areas are divided into eight parts in total. In the pavilion, the treasure of the scenic area—the three Guanyin statues made of millennium ebony are enshrined. Ebony is the sacred wood of China. It is formed in five hundred years in the soil and on the land in five hundred years. Thus, it grows for a thousand years. The three Guanyin statues are Ruyi Guanyin, Weide Guanyin, and Dabei Guanyin, implying good luck, great fortune, and protecting the safety of the whole family. Baizi Forest is a high Guanyin statue in the scenic area, with a height of 6.19 meters. The nineteenth day of the second lunar month is Guanyin’s birthday, the nineteenth day of June is the day of becoming a monk, and the nineteenth day of September is the day of becoming a Buddha. Therefore, the height is 6.19 meters. What you see on the stone wall ahead is the scene when Buddha Sakyamuni first became a Buddha in Luyeyuan. Pomegranate trees are planted here. Why plant pomegranate trees here? Because pomegranate fruits have many seeds, implying many descendants. It complements Baizi Forest. There is also the amiable Maitreya Buddha in the scenic area. His big belly can tolerate things that are difficult to tolerate in the world. He always smiles at the ridiculous people in the world. Maitreya Buddha gives people a kind and friendly feeling. There are more than one hundred children beside Maitreya Buddha. They are either playing or making noise, implying many descendants and many blessings. This is modeled after the story of Sima Guang smashing the vat. After passing through the Purple Bamboo Forest, you will come to the first cave. Ascending the steps, you can see a grand hall. Inside the hall, the Thousand-Hand Guanyin is enshrined, implying infinite Dharma and wisdom. There is a beautiful legend about the Thousand-Hand Guanyin. Opening hours: From April 1 to October 31 (summer), it is open from 08:30 to 17:30; from November 1 to March 31 (winter), it is open from 08:30 to 17:00.
