Changxing Island is conveniently close to the city center, accessible by a half-hour boat ride. It is also one of the larger citrus growing bases, earning it the nicknames ‘Orange Township’, ‘Pure Island’, and ‘Longevity Island’. The main attractions include Shanghai Orange Garden, Chuzhu Garden, Shanghai Stunt City, Xianfeng Resort, Shisha Wildlife Park, Green Island Reed Maze, and Star Island Resort Country Club.
Among these, the Orange Garden is located in the central part of Changxing Island and is a fine garden within the hundred-acre orange orchard of the avant-garde farm. Every late autumn, the island hosts the Shanghai Citrus Festival, which is very lively. Historically, some high schools in Shanghai have chosen the Orange Garden on Changxing Island for their agricultural activities.
