Established in 1976, the Changxing County Museum’s new building began construction in 2016 and was opened to the public in 2019. The new museum is located at Taihukou Central Avenue, with a construction area of 31,000 square meters.
The museum now houses over 10,000 cultural relics. Among the current collections, the prehistoric stone tools, Majiabang culture pottery, Shang and Zhou bronze wares, Spring and Autumn period weapons, Han Dynasty ironware, and Song Dynasty bronze mirrors and porcelains are all renowned treasures.

The entire museum is composed of outdoor ancient Pengcheng site, Taihu ancient Lou port, and indoor Changxing history hall, Taihu humanities hall, Taihu natural hall, and temporary exhibition hall, which together narrate the stories of Taihu’s nature, history, folklore, and culture from ancient times to the present. It is a model of cultural and tourism integration that combines Taihu’s thematic exhibitions with county culture in China.
