On April 21st, I attended the 2021 Shanghai International Automobile Industry Expo as a professional audience member. The event, themed ‘Embracing Change,’ commenced on the 19th. Major automobile manufacturers and brands once again showcased their new products and technologies at this premier domestic car show, vying for attention.
At the scene, each booth was adorned with grandeur and brilliance, highlighting not only the latest achievements of the global automotive industry but also the strength and latest trends of various brands. It was observed that several well-known car brands, which had previously declared their intentions to cease development of fuel vehicles, still prominently displayed and promoted fuel vehicles at the show. This suggests that traditional fuel vehicles continue to hold a dominant position in the market.
The current competition among major car companies is primarily centered on traditional fuel vehicles. The car companies that demonstrated the most strength and automotive culture at the car show were the traditional automotive giants and leaders.
The deep integration of automobiles with the internet, big data, artificial intelligence, and other fields was evident at this year’s Shanghai Auto Show. New changes have emerged as major car companies actively embrace electrification, intelligence, and connectivity. This trend was apparent across all segments, including luxury brands, joint venture brands, and independent brands, all chasing the new wave of automotive innovation.Especially electric vehicles were still very active at this year’s Shanghai Auto Show, undoubtedly showing the continued optimism for automotive electrification. According to official news, the 2021 Shanghai Auto Show lasted for 10 days. It had a total exhibition area of about 360,000 square meters and more than 1,000 companies participated. During the auto show, the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai) opened 12 indoor exhibition halls, including 9 halls for passenger cars and 2 halls for automotive technology and supply chain areas. April 19th and 20th were media days, only receiving press. April 21st to 23rd were professional audience days. April 24th to 28th were public days. Shanghai Traffic Radio also broadcasted live three times a day. The content and information volume of the exhibition were too large to be seen in a whole day. Friends who have time and conditions might as well visit the scene to appreciate this top-level feast in the automotive industry.
