Cheng Jia Dasha Mansion, located in Xinghua, Jiangsu, was the residence of Cheng Jin, the Minister of War during the Ming Dynasty. Constructed during the Yongle reign, it has a history of over 600 years. Cheng Jin, also known by his courtesy name Gongkai, was a native of Xinghua in the early Ming era. He began his official career as a tribute student in the 22nd year of the Hongwu era (1389 AD), serving in various positions such as Daizhou Education Commissioner, Weizhou Magistrate, and Bei Ping Financial Deputy Commissioner.

His contributions to the ‘Jingnan Campaign’ alongside Prince Zhu Di, who later became Emperor Yongle, led to his posthumous titles of Deputy Minister of Personnel and Minister of War. The ancient title for Minister of War was ‘Da Sima,’ from which the mansion derives its name.
