Chiang Kai-shek’s Hot Spring Villa is located at No. 3 Tangquan Road, Tangshan Town, 28 kilometers away from Nanjing City. Surrounded by rolling hills, shaded by green trees, and filled with the fragrance of flowers and the sounds of birds, the area boasts natural hot springs. Nearby attractions include the Yangshan Stele, the Tangshan Caves where the ‘Nanjing Man’ once lived, the exquisite Anki Lake, and the Longchang Temple. This place has been a向往之地 for celebrities and scholars throughout history.
The villa is a blend of Chinese and Western architecture, exuding solemn elegance, and consists of two levels above ground and one below. Upon entering, the second floor features a reception room, a rest room, and a chess room; the basement houses the ‘Mandarin Duck Bath’ for Mr. and Mrs. Chiang Kai-shek, a bath for security officers, and a bath for attendants. On holidays, the Chiang couple would drive to the villa with their staff for a relaxing soak. Time passes, but the villa has maintained its original architectural style.
