The China Art Palace was once the China National Pavilion of the Shanghai World Expo. If you didn’t have a chance to fully appreciate its true appearance during the World Expo, then coming here now allows you to leisurely visit this magnificent building. In addition to viewing the treasure of the museum – the multimedia version of ‘Along the River During the Qingming Festival’, there are also many artworks of modern artists on display here.

The exhibition hall of the multimedia version of ‘Along the River During the Qingming Festival’ is located on the 49-meter floor. Since the closure of the World Expo, the multimedia version of ‘Along the River During the Qingming Festival’ has permanently settled here. Now it is still a popular highlight in the China Art Palace. On this floor, there is also the exhibition hall of ‘The Bright Moon Rising from the Sea – The Source of Modern and Contemporary Chinese Fine Arts’, where you can enjoy the paintings of the ‘Shanghai School of Painting’ that combines Chinese and Western styles.

It is also a long-term exhibition. Standing at a high place, you can also overlook the nearby Mercedes-Benz Arena and other classic World Expo venues through the windows. The other floors mainly exhibit various artworks of famous Chinese modern art masters and temporary exhibitions of domestic and foreign artworks. The content of temporary exhibitions often changes, and you can irregularly enjoy art exhibits from museums around the world.

There are also many long-term exhibitions with a large scale, such as the ‘Shadow Puppet Art Exhibition in the Collection of China Art Palace’, ‘Wu Dialect – Invitational Exhibition of Shanghai Artists’, and ‘He Youzhi’s Picture Stories – Exhibition of Donated Works in the Collection’ on the 0-meter floor.
