The China Chemical Industry Museum, established in 2008, is a thematic museum located in Haidian District, Beijing, south of Peking University. It is dedicated to showcasing the development history and significant achievements of China’s chemical industry.
The museum comprises eight exhibition halls, including the序厅, Ancient Chemical Industry Hall, Modern Chemical Industry Hall, Contemporary Chemical Industry Hall, China National Chemical Corporation Hall, Future Chemical Industry Hall, and Chemical Industry and National Economy Hall, along with a multi-functional hall. Visitors can explore the history of China’s chemical industry through a vast array of texts, photographs, charts, models, and chemical artifacts.
The Ancient Chemical Industry Hall features exhibits on ancient pottery and porcelain firing, metal smelting, papermaking invention, gunpowder, and firearms. The Modern Chemical Industry Hall displays the chemical industry’s journey during the late Qing Dynasty and the Republic of China era. The Contemporary Chemical Industry Hall highlights the development and brilliant achievements of China’s chemical industry since the founding of the People’s Republic of China.
The China National Chemical Corporation Hall primarily displays the main products of its affiliated enterprises and introduces leading international chemical companies. The Future Chemical Industry Hall describes the development trends of the chemical industry in the future. Lastly, the Chemical Industry and National Economy Hall mainly exhibits the relationship between the chemical industry and the national economy and people’s livelihood.This is a highly specialized museum and usually does not attract many visitors.
