The Wuzhen Post Office was founded in 1903. The brick-and-tile building and western-style iron gate exude a strong sense of history. Here, you can see many precious postal exhibits. Buying a postcard, stamping it with the old post office’s seal, and sending it to relatives and friends far away is a romantic and special commemorative way. The post office is located by the Xishi River in Xizha. The Chinese-Western combined appearance stands out among the all-wooden buildings in the ancient town and is very easy to find.
There are postcards for sale inside the post office, and there are also tables and chairs for tourists to sit down and write slowly. Every day, many young people write down their moods and blessings here and put them into the mailbox standing at the post office entrance. It is worth mentioning that this mailbox is not the usual green China Post. Instead, it is bronze-colored with words such as ‘Wuzhen Xizha Postal Agency Branch’ and ’29th year of Guangxu’ engraved on it. Many tourists also take group photos here after sending letters.
