The China Telecom Museum houses more than 17,000 cultural relics. It has four major exhibition halls: communication history, science and technology popularization, telephone cards, and comprehensive. It is China’s first comprehensive museum specializing in communications. The Communication History Hall showcases China’s communication development history, including ancient, modern, and contemporary periods.


It displays historical picture materials of China’s communication development, reflecting the new achievements of contemporary telecommunications development from the budding of communication activities more than 3,000 years ago. More than a thousand communication collections are on display, including dragon-pattern telephones from the late Qing Dynasty, Western Union heavy hammer telegraph transmitters, common battery manual switchboards, etc.


The Science and Technology Popularization Hall popularizes communication science and technology knowledge, demonstrates communication principles, and new achievements and trends in the development of communication science and technology. The main demonstration projects include program-controlled switching, digital communication, microwave communication, mobile communication, satellite communication, data communication, optical fiber communication, multimedia communication and other systems.


Tourists can operate communication equipment. The Telephone Card Hall displays telephone magnetic cards and IC cards issued in China. The Comprehensive Hall uses pictures and text to display the achievements of China’s communication industry development.



Opening hours: Open on Saturdays and Sundays throughout the year from 09:30 to 12:00 and from 13:00 to 16:30; closed all day on Mondays to Fridays throughout the year; open from 09:30 to 16:30 on New Year’s Day, Spring Festival, Qingming Festival, Labor Day, Dragon Boat Festival, Mid-Autumn Festival, and National Day. For individual reservations: Saturdays and Sundays (morning session from 09:30 to 12:00, admission stops at 11:00; afternoon session from 13:00 to 16:30, admission stops at 16:00). For group reservations: Tuesdays to Fridays: reserve in four sessions at 9:30/10:00/14:00/15:00.
